A new collaboration is coming from Stüssy and Clarks Originals, with the two brands coming together for a fourth time. Having previously collaborated in 2010, 2015 and 2019, the legendary link-up has given us consistently solid shoes, with each release.
The co-branded shoe appears to be a black suede Wallabee, complete with embroidered aces, diamonds and spades, and contrast stitching. The campaign was shot against the iconic backdrop of the Mildmay Club in Stoke Newington, one of the last surviving working men’s clubs in the UK capital.
Nods to both the club and Clarks Originals’ long-standing British legacy can be seen in the promotional shoot, which sees a model pair the shoes with white socks, sitting upright on the velvet sofas of the N1 institution, with the shoes pointed down towards the vinyl floors to reveal further detailing on the top of the shoe. With the 8-ball a signifier of the Stüssy brand, the card-game motif feels at home, with the streetwear label’s signature dose of California cool.
Clarks Originals launched in 1950 with the iconic desert boot silhouette, with the Wallabee following in 1970. The brand has been adopted by a host of subcultures, from Rude Boys, Mods, Hip Hop and Brit Pop, making the Somerset-based shoe brand an ideal collaborator for Stüssy, which has garnered a loyal subcultural following since its early ‘80s roots, starting with surf culture and later being adopted by the hip-hop and skate scenes.
Stüssy has only teased the project so far, so keep your eyes peeled for more images over the next few days.
The Stüssy and Clarks originals collaboration will be released at chapter stores worldwide and stussy.com on Friday, September 29 at 10 a.m., so set your alarms now to avoid disappointment.
