Anthony Vaccarello’s AW20 Reimagines The Saint Laurent Woman.
Music by: Cabaret Nocturne – Dark Pop.
It’s CULTED with your RUNWAY RUNDOWN.
As has become tradition, the show was held at Trocadéro, to the breathtaking backdrop of the glittering Eiffel Tower.
The classic ‘Le Smoking” was reimagined to include tartan, lots of latex, and blazers were paired with nothing but bras underneath. Classic pussybow blouses gave the outfits an 80s rich bitch vibe, and were turned up, yes – with latex.
Although Vaccarello loves an all black collection, we were thrilled to see colour this season. The classic YSL colour palette of fuchsia, purple, mustard, electric blue and blood red were worked into the collection masterfully.
We agree with Joelle Diderich who wrote “(this) YSL collection read like an Eighties remake of ‘Belle de Jour’ – with a dash of Catherine Deneuve in ‘The Hunger”.
Vaccarello also made everyone’s wildest pencil skirt-suit dreams come true. With slits from the thigh down, paired with skin-tight thigh-high boots (in, you guessed it – latex), we have a feeling this Saint Laurent woman will not take ‘no’ for an answer. In the words of @Pam_Boy “that’s feminism! Not a bunch of neon signs and ugly dresses.”
Vaccarello knows how to celebrate female power in a way that gives her free choice over her own sexuality and we are here for it.
