Rihanna has made history, becoming the first ever person to appear on the cover of Vogue wearing a durag. The durag was made by the iconic Stephen Jones.
British Vogue Editor Edward Enninful said in a Insta post:
“Did I ever think that I would see a durag on the cover of Vogue? No, reader, I did not. Although this potent symbol of black life – of self-preservation, resistance and authenticity – has an important place in popular culture, it is rarely viewed through the prism of high fashion”
But Riri had other ideas and thus history was made!
But this isn’t the only story from Rihanna’s feature in the upcoming May issue that has grabbed headlines. The pop icon also confirmed in the interview that a long-awaited skincare brand is in the works. She revealed that Fenty Skin is her next project but she’s taking her time in order to get the perfect product.
And yes, she mentions the album. In the interview Rihanna said “I can’t say when I’m going to drop. But I am very aggressively working on music.”
British Vogue is making the May issue available as a free download on Friday.
