The world is still mourning the death over Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna. The basketball star and 8 others tragically passed away in a helicopter crash on Sunday. Tributes to Kobe and his family are still flooding social media.
With his passing, interest in products relating to the Lakers legend has spiked. In particular Kobe’s signature sneakers. Throughout his 17-year career, Kobe collaborated with Nike and Adidas and truly elevated the sneaker game. Yet since his passing, pairs of Kobe sneakers have skyrocketed in price.
Take the Adidas EQT Elevation, which he famously wore in the 1997 Slam Dunk Contest. Before Monday, pairs were selling for around $170. Now the sneakers are selling for over $1000. But should people be profiting off of such a tragedy?
Project Blitz owner Andre Ljustina doesn’t see a problem. He said: “When an artist passes, everyone goes after their works. It’s just normal in the art world. So, it shouldn’t be any different with Kobe’s shoes”. He went on to say: “The fact people are buying is actually incredible, and I think it pays tribute to Koby.”
So guys what do you think? Should people be reselling Kobe Bryant sneakers to make such a high profit?
