Prada just showcased their AW20 Womenswear collection in Milan.
Mirroring the Menswear show back in January, the set featured infrared corridors with doors which led into the central show space. Where during the Menswear show the set was centred by a horse and rider, for Womens it was replaced with a sculpture of Atlas carrying the world on his back.
Was Atlas a metaphor for strength and power?
Female empowerment was a theme throughout the show, and we were reminded of New York businesswomen in the 80s.
The show opened with a black fringe skirt which was paired with a tailored grey blazer with padded shoulders and a belted waist. Ties were added to strong tailored suits creating a juxtaposition between masculine and feminine. Traditionally contrasting colours and textures were expertly blended together in true Miuccia Prada style. Nylon was also used for puffers, blazers and trenchcoats and we all know no one does Nylon better than Prada.
And finally, we can’t talk about Prada without mentioning the accessories. There were tiny handbag necklaces, chunky pink rain boots and beautifully crafted heels.
The classic Prada handbags also made an appearance and were just big enough for the modern-day businesswoman.
Would you expect anything less from Miuccia Prada?
