We covered the impact of coronavirus on high street retailers yesterday and today we’re diving into the world of online sales.
An inside source at Pretty Little Thing explained that the company is seeing issues with manufacturing, as well as supplies. The source told CULTED:
“Anything from China is going to deliver late and will be delivered after the peak of summer sales now. We have cancelled anything that we could.”
The source went on to say:
“We don’t have enough stock so we are topping up with UK, Paris and Italy stock but those suppliers get fabric from China so that’s also going to run out soon because it’s in high demand. Lots of those suppliers are putting prices up as well”
The company has also cancelled all buying trips abroad.
But despite this, the source said Pretty Little Thing hasn’t lost anything from the outbreak.
“I don’t think it will hit sales for us because people will be buying online. Our sales are up massively v last year [and we’re] not seeing an impact yet. We have bought a lot of UK and Italy [stock] to cover ourselves”
So guys, do you think we’ll see online retailers eventually being as affected as the high street?
