The Off-White AW20 show named ‘Slightly Off’ just took place here in Paris.
As the sound started red lights revealed cars jutting out of the floor in a large arena space. Bella Hadid opened the show in a black gown that merged formal and sportswear, not unusual for Virgil Alboh. He caters for the modern day woman, who doesn’t have to choose between elegance or streetwear.
Asymmetry was a focus throughout the collection from suiting to pleated half skirts layered on top of trousers. We also saw a white tulle gown which showcased it’s crinoline, making the skirt unbalanced and represented the ‘Slightly Off’ collection.
Of course as always accessories were a key factor to the collection, from oversized folded totebags to small neon clutches. Chain jewellery, in chrome, gold and other finishes were combined with almost every look – heavier styling than usual.
There was an overwhelming combination of prints, vibrant colours and cut-outs, however Virgil Abloh is not a designer you’d call a maximalist.
The show closed with glitter confetti falling onto the show space. Bella slipped but she wasn’t the only one to take a tumble! Fashion isn’t always a safe job.
What did you guys think of the collection?
