Museums across the world are closing one after the other due to the coronavirus outbreak. The UK’s Tate galleries, Natural History Museum and V&A have all closed their doors, as well as global institutions such as the Louvre. But all is not lost!
Google Arts & Culture has compiled a list of over 500 galleries and museums which you can take a tour of virtually. The platform allows you to use google’s interior street view to wander museum halls, as well as allowing users to browse featured museum collections.
Amongst the more than 500 museums on Google Arts & Culture is The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. They’re sharing over 200 paintings on the platform, as well as 500 drawings, more than 750 letters and 2 online exhibits.
The Museum of Modern Art is also sharing over 120 pieces, and the Louvre and Musée d’Orsay have also moved their collections online. Even The Vatican Museums are offering 360-degree tours of the Sistine Chapel and Raphael’s rooms.
So which museum will you be virtually visiting first?
