It’s CULTED with your NEWSRUSH for Monday 10 August.
First up, renowned Belgian designer Walter Van Beirendonck has accused Virgil Abloh of copying, pointing out multiple similarities between Louis Vuitton’s SS21 and his own designs. He told Belgian publication Knack Weekend:
“It’s very clear that Virgil Abloh is not a designer, he has no language of his own, no vision. He can’t create something of his own season after season and that is painful.”
In other news, Matty Bovan has launched a new unisex label, BOVAN, exclusive to the brand’s webstore. Bovan created the new label during lockdown with the first collection all being printed and painted by hand in Yorkshire.
Next up, Kanye West revealed behind-the scenes pics and info, as well as details of upcoming Yeezy releases, on Twitter over the weekend. The stand-out news from the tweets, is that an upcoming Yeezy x Derrick Rose sneaker is coming soon.
And to end your updates from this weekend, Twitter has now joined Microsoft on the list of potential buyers of TikTok. This comes after Trump set a deadline of 15 September for the acquisition of the app if it wants to continue operating in the US..
That’s all for today. It’s Sam with CULTED.
