This isn’t the first time the two brands have collaborated (and hopefully it won’t be the last) given that they already partnered in January of this year with an animated short film and reinvented rendition of the “Wackeldackel” toy – you know, the one people stick on the front of their dashboards?
The duo’s latest limited-edition capsule collection includes a new handcrafted Superdackel figure (which is as, if not more, adorable than the last one) as well as a premium capsule of apparel. Hoodies, t-shirts, hats, and scarves featuring the iconic Superdackel logo will be available on Superplastic’s website and in the brand’s NYC store from the 26th June. There’s even a Mercedes-Benz Superplastic branded dog collar.
This was all celebrated with an exclusive launch event last night in SoHo, NYC, which invited guests to preview the collaborative collection in an immersive gallery space, decked out with full-screen animations of a short film from January which features the iconic Superplastic characters, and a giant, 8.2 foot Superdackel sculpture. Basically, they went all out.
Whilst Mercedes-Benz x Superplastic might be a collab we didn’t expect, it’s actually one that makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Both brands are known for prioritising ethics, which is seen in the collection itself through how it aligns with both brands’ mission of net carbon-neutrality, staying considerate of their economic, environmental, and social responsibility.
Keep an eye out for the collection, currently available on Superplastic’s website and its NYC store until the 26th June.
