If you saw the CSM BA graduate press show back in 2019 then you’ll be sure to recognise these designs by Nicole Zisman.
Since graduating, she’s been busy hosting her own solo exhibition, showcasing her designs at London Fashion Week’s Positive Fashion exhibition, and even designing a gown for Grayson Perry’s alter-ego, Claire.
Zisman’s designs look at her upbringing as a Jewish woman in LA and combine elements of her digital Instagram persona: Tramadol Baby.
“I work in a way that obscures the references so you can’t quite tell where things come from but it creates a sort of ethereal alternative reality aesthetic”, said Zisman.
Her materials draw reference from the digital world and she likes to question the idea of what is and isn’t real.
Zisman’s digital designs were ahead of their time in the world of pre-corona. And commenting on the future of digital fashion, Zisman predicts, “it will become like a Rolex watch where people don’t buy them to tell the time but more as a symbol”.
What do you think of the future of digital fashion?
