It’s CULTED with your 60-second ART BLAST. Today we’re spotlighting the work of artist Jacky Tsai.

Originally from China, Tsai moved to London to study at Central Saint Martins and his bold, vibrant work quickly got people talking. Tsai fuses traditional Chinese techniques, as well as images from western pop culture such as comic book characters.

He’s able to tell captivating stories through a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, and screen printing. While you might not be familiar with his designs, there’s one emblem created by the artist that is instantly recognisable.

Tsai is the mastermind behind the iconic Alexander McQueen floral skull, and the emblem has gone on to become a motif for the designer. With his floral skull designs, Tsai wants “to dispel attitudes of fear and superstition prevalent in his native China and instead encourage the emergence of beauty in decay.”

One of the best things about Tsai’s work is his ability to deliver a perfect narrative through his art whether that be hidden, or obvious and the skull perfectly exemplifies this.

So guys what do you think of Jacky Tsai’s work? Let us know below.
