The fingerprints of Bone Soda can be found in every corner of London’s cultural landscape.
With their feet placed firmly in the worlds of music and fashion, Bone Soda is one of the most exciting creative collectives in London at the moment. Co-founders Skinny Macho and Truce founded the collective after being frustrated with the one-dimensional music nights that were being offered in London.
As teenagers in South London, the self-proclaimed ‘misfits’ bonded over their unique and far reaching music tastes, which was not being reflected in the club scene at the time. Instead of putting on a Hip-Hop night, or a House music event, they envisioned a space with no rules; where DJs were free to play whatever they pleased and could showcase their eclectic tastes. They wanted to create an environment where this kind of musical diversity would be celebrated; so they went about making it happen themselves.
After a slew of parties, which brought together people from all different backgrounds, a community centered around this musical diversity began to blossom. This gave Bone Soda a bigger platform to showcase artists who otherwise may have been overlooked by a wider audience. After helping the South African DJ Lag release music, they embarked on releasing more music. In 2017, they discovered British music’s biggest deviant, Slowthai, and released his first EP ‘I Wish I knew’, as well as the single ‘T N Biscuits’ which ended up propelling him into the public eye. They were also responsible for bringing Rema and Sheck Wes among others to perform live in London for the first time.
More recently, they were instrumental in the rise of Pink Pantheress, hosting her album afterparty at the Cause in Tottenham in 2021. In April this year, they threw a party in collaboration with close collaborators Stüssy at fabric London, where headliner Lancey Foux performed his new song with Yeat, sending the crowd into a complete frenzy.Â
Having worked with Nike, Off-White and Virgil Abloh, Bone Soda has developed into a sophisticated operation, whilst still maintaining its enigmatic mystique. They’ve been omnipresent on dance floors, radio shows and in fashion collaborations alike. Having collaborated previously with SAINTWOODS and Carharrt, they have recently teamed up with Stüssy and Bakar – releasing a capsule collection of hoodies, sweatpants and t-shirts.
With music coursing through the veins of everything they do, there really is no equivalent to Bone Soda. So far, their cultural impact has been far and wide, and informed by their philosophy of fluidity, there is no saying where they are headed next.
