West London R&B star Maxi Millz has blessed us with another album. Titled I Like All My Ideas, Millz speaks to his audience about real-life issues, punctuating soulful fusions of funk and hip-hop with voice recordings from friends.

A familiar energy radiates from these familiar voicemail messages as the musician’s friends welcome him back to the UK after time spent in LA. Alongside warm welcomes, his pals offer their take on the fluctuating emotions felt towards loved ones.

Launching his career in 2020, Millz has brought us two projects, with his latest following on from Captions, dealing with his unique approach to love as he condensed his emotions into the project.

‘Greedy’ offers observational takes on the perils of fame, as we’re told to “Stop being greedy with the love you’re given”. Other highlights include ‘Casper The Ghost’, which fuses soulful R&B with an energising kineticism, perfect as we see out the last of the summer.

We hear how the musician tackles hypocritical emotional responses and the lasting effects of relationship politics in ‘Problem’, and further reflections follow in ‘Late Nights’.

What do you think of the new album?
