Marine Serre just debuted its SS21 collection via a dystopian short film.
The film gave us Manson’s Mechanical Animals through clinical interiors and futuristic humanoids. Unlike many other brands, Marine Serre embraced the digital format, transporting us into a post-apocalyptic nightmare – and we mean that in the best way.
Sticking with the dystopian theme, Serre’s collection had military elements throughout, from utility belts and vests to berets.
And after the brand’s signature moon print exploded in popularity, partly due to the likes of Beyoncé and Adele donning the pattern on social media, Serre is back with an all-new print. The new print features a crescent moon in a diamond shape repeated across the outfit in black and off white.
Will this new design be as successful as the brand’s beige moon print?
The collection also featured second-skin bodysuits in bright red and black, as well as cobalt blue jackets, trousers, and dresses. And face masks were a focal point throughout. The film featured Marine Serre branded face shields, balaclavas, and fully crystallised face coverings. This reinforced that the designer’s ongoing aesthetic is a reflection of the world that we live in, as her dystopian themes become more and more reflective of the current global situation.
