Marine Serre Explores Humanity’s Post-Apocalyptic Rebirth with AW20 Show.

It’s CULTED with your RUNWAY RUNDOWN.
Marine Serre showed at Paris Fashion Week this morning with a beautifully eerie show. The post-apocalyptic vibe was enforced by an echoing female voice that made statements like “the moon will be your friend, the sun your enemy”. The collection represented a rebirth, and awakening after the previous show, ‘Marée Noir’ meaning ‘Oil Spill’.
The first look lit up the runway with a beaming necklace and was followed by draped upcycled lace, fringing, and ethereal white. Exquisite dogtooth suits were introduced afterwards in a combination of styles.
An increasingly relevant accessory – facemasks were again featured. We saw faux fur patchwork alongside loud knits and utility wear. The second skin tops and tights in the Marine Serre crescent moon print were featured everywhere.
Models walked the runway hand-in-hand with children. Sophie Fontanel wrote “we saw super emphatic humans of tomorrow. The show praised a bond between people, a deep desire to stay connected”.
“There’s no real ending, it’s just a place where you stop the story” were the final lines of the show, reinforcing the idea of rebirth and a brighter future.
