Many In The Music Industry Remain Silent After Octavian Abuse Allegations.

On Wednesday 11th November, musician Emo Baby took to her Instagram to accuse her ex-boyfriend Octavian; the British rapper, of emotional and physical abuse dating back to April.

These accusations were posted alongside numerous clips and screenshots which included a video of Octavian appearing to be hitting and swearing at her.

Emo Baby took to her Instagram stories to post dozens of screenshots, detailing the nature of their relationship including text messages which showcase numerous worrying signs of gaslighting.

This is not the first time allegations towards Octavian have come to light. In September 2020, Technique PR resigned after hearing allegations of abuse.  Since the Instagram posts have gone live Octavian has been dropped by his PR company, his record label Black Butter and his management company Metalic Inc.

The evidence in and of itself is incredibly damning, and while it is good to see his representatives drop him and many in the industry have spoken out or against Octavian, key figures have stayed silent over the issue.

Skepta; a friend of Octavian’s and who was due to appear on Octavian’s newest album, has been silent on social media. Link Up Tv and GRM Daily, both of whom have featured Octavian in the past are yet to mention these allegations.

It’s disheartening that notable figures in the music industry have declined to comment or discuss on these incredibly serious allegations. The distinct lack of reporting regarding these issues lead the music industry to become more toxic over time.

Emo Baby has filed a police report against Octavian and has been involved in legal proceedings against Octavian and his associates. Octavian has vehemently denied all allegations of verbal, physical and emotional abuse.
