Levi’s and ERL have worked on their first ever collaboration, bringing a hearty dose of California cool. As part of the collection, Levi’s classic denim offerings have been reimagined through Eli Russell Linnetz’s playful lens.

Bottoms include an ERL-infused 501 jean, with the Levi’s x ERL 501 Split Leg Jean bringing something iconic to the timeless style, including blown-out knees and slits cut up the side of the leg.

The Levi’s Stay Loose offers a frayed waistband on a breathable pair of jeans, channelling the skate-inspired roots into each thread and fray. When it comes to California, shorts are a must. Levi’s have transferred the relaxed, loose-fitting silhouette of a board short and crafted it from premium denim, cut from a pair of overalls, channelling the carefree attitude of the Golden Bear State. Clearly Jorts Season ain’t over yet.

The collection has you covered up top too, with an assortment of outerwear pieces, including a co-branded Sherpa trucker, arriving in a shorter, boxier fit. Accompanying the jacket is a super-wearable denim overshirt, offering durability and versatility whilst channelling the carefree energy of the West Coast.

When asked how it felt to work on the collection, Linnetz explained he was able to work with Levi’s authentically. “It was super exciting to work with the Levi’s team on the design process. Because authenticity is the most important thing to me, I really enjoyed going through the Levi’s archives to fully understand the heritage.”

Eli Russell Linnetz is no stranger to collaboration, having guest-designed a collection for Kim Jones’ Dior, injecting some Cali Couture into the French house during a Venice Beach presentation. Highlights from the show included a ginormous skate-inspired sneaker, vibrant puffers, and logoed sweaters.

Working with Levi’s makes sense for ERL, a brand that embodies the free-spirited energy of a Venice Beach upbringing. Levi’s is made to be lived in. As a brand, it’s durable, hard-wearing and timeless, which is exactly what you need for a collab to stand the test of time.

The Levi’s x ERL collection launches worldwide on September 6 2023 and will be available for purchase on Levi.com, the Levi’s App, and in select Levi’s stores. The collection will also be available at Dover Street Market globally and at select premium retailers.
