While the fashion industry continues to be called out for its contribution towards climate change, Kering continues to strive for a sustainable future. The luxury group continues to be ahead of the game when it comes to sustainability efforts, and with their new biodiversity strategy, the group strives to be net positive by 2025!
Gucci has already committed to a ten-year sustainability plan, and both Gucci and Balenciaga have dropped their first sustainable collections.
So – what does Kering plan to do?
They will be launching the Kering for Nature Fund, working to reduce the impact of raw materials, and they also plan to convert 1 million hectares of farms of its supply chain into regenerative agriculture by 2025. The group will be committing €5M to the Kering for Nature fund, which will begin in January.
Chief sustainability officer Marie-Claire Daveu, told WWD “We have a business and a moral responsibility to take serious action”.
