In a brand-new interview, Kanye West says he still has mixed feelings about Virgil Abloh’s position as menswear artistic director of Louis Vuttion.
Abloh, who is West’s long-time friend and former creative collaborator, made history last year by becoming the first African-American creative director at the French fashion house.
But at the time, West said that he was also in talks with Louis Vuitton Owner, Bernard Arnault.
And of course, it was no secret that the rapper wanted to lead a major luxury brand as well.
In a recent interview, West brings up his feelings on the topic once again, saying “I felt like it was supposed to me – I was the Louis Vuitton Don”.
However, Kanye has never actually said that Virgil was undeserving of the job, he simply said “we are all on the same court, but Virgil scored the touchdown”.
And after West and Abloh’s emotional hug on the runway, following Virgil’s Louis Vuitton menswear show we’re pretty sure the pair’s love and appreciation for each other is still there.
What do you think of Kanye’s comments, and do you agree?
