We’ve already discussed how we’re entering a new era of fashion communication. Fashion houses and photographers are now searching for innovative ways to showcase the latest campaigns, now that high production spreads are off the cards.
And Jacquemus is one of the brands that has had to rethink its Summer 2020 campaign. With just a phone camera and FaceTime, Pierre-Ange Carlotti and Jacquemus shot the campaign featuring Bella Hadid and Barbie Ferreira wearing the new line.
Jacquemus said the message behind the shoot is poetry, but people are struggling to see the link, and the campaign as a whole has been met with some very mixed reviews.
Photographer Hadar Pitchon branded the shoot as “totally disposable” saying:
“Rather than some crappy FaceTime shoot parading around as innovative, the fashion world should give us something different or honestly just be quiet for the moment”
Pam_boy shared similar criticism asking: “is churning out ego-filled, frankly mediocre content REALLY what we need today? Haven’t we started reflecting yet?”
Do you agree with what they had to say?
