A new platform has been created to support artists during the coronavirus pandemic. The Artists Support Pledge has been developed by Sussex-based artist Matthew Burrows and is offering a lifeline to artists across the globe.
The self-sustaining scheme invites artists to post pictures of their work which are available for £200 or less on Instagram using the hashtag #ArtistsSupportPledge. Every time an artist sells more than £1000 worth of work through the tag, they must then pledge to buy a £200 work from another participating artist.
Cool, right?
At present, there’s no one enforcing these rules. It’s a system based on trust and shows that in difficult times affected communities really can come together to make positive change. And we love to see it.
In its first 4 days the scheme has already seen 9000 pledges which roughly translates to an incredible £9 million worth of pledged money!
So guys, have you got any creative friends who could benefit from the Artists Support Pledge? Make sure to tag them below so they can get in on the scheme!
