It’s CULTED with your 60-second FASHION BLAST.
This week, we’re spotlighting New York based designer Romeo Hunte, whose clothes project a youthful vibe and take inspiration from streetwear.
Demand for Hunte’s clothing first grew after Zendaya was spotted wearing his creations. The looks were well received on social media, prompting the emerging designer to create his first full collection in 2014.
Hunte turned down 2 full athletic scholarships to pursue his dreams of becoming a designer and went on to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology. He told CULTED: “If you have a vision, run with it, never settle for where you are.”
On starting his brand Hunte told CULTED he was “greatly inspired by the downtown Brooklyn woman on the go, dressed up & down in staple outerwear attire.” Juxtaposed with his experience of working in editorial fashion, he mixed the “two different worlds and silhouettes” creating bold “pieces while infusing [his] cultural background of street slangs with a chic flair.”
Through his designs he wants “people to feel powerful, confident and overall in control of their own fashion narrative.”
What do you guys think of his designs?
