Want to buy good and sustainable fits but feel like you can’t afford it? We’ve put together some ways you can shop more sustainably without breaking the bank.
First off, shopping vintage is one of the most sustainable ways to shop and can often be cheaper than buying from the high street, but don’t worry if you live in an area which doesn’t have good vintage or charity shops, there’s always great online alternatives like Depop, thredUP and Vestiaire Collective.
If you prefer to shop on the highstreet, do your research as some budget brands are a lot worse than others. For example, the Ethical Consumer found Primark to have major environmental issues including palm oil use, pollution and issues concerning animal welfare.
A white shirt at Primark costs £4, whereas 2 white shirts at H&M cost £7.99. Whilst H&M does still have sustainability issues, it’s not to the same extent.
Another thing to remember is that if you can, try saving up a little before your shopping spree. More expensive products last longer, meaning you won’t have to fork out on a replacement so it’s more sustainable and will save you money in the long run.
