Contact, founded by maverick entrepreneur, creative and designer Reuben Selby, has just raised £1.4 million through a funding round. The online platform is home to 500+ creatives that can book jobs, be booked, and organise their work all at the press of a button through the mobile app. Contact handles the boring paperwork and payments, allowing creatives to simply be creative. Their impressive client roster includes brands and companies such as Balenciaga, Burberry, Depop, Farfetch, Nike and Vivienne Westwood.
The platform’s goal from the get-go has been none other than admirable; for creatives worldwide, late payments, unfair budgets and miscommunication plagues the professional sphere. Contact aims to facilitate a safe, honest and reliable space for creatives to call home, a home devoid of conventional issues facing industry workers on the day to day. So it’s no surprise that the funding round is led by Founders Fund (Airbnb, Facebook, Stripe) and Sweet Capital, with additional funding from angel investors like Simon Beckerman (founder, Depop) and Eric Wahlforss (founder, SoundCloud).
For a young organisation to receive not only widespread recognition, but also monetary backing, is impressive to say the least. Standing at the edge of the £500 billion creative industry, that’s been crying out for reform for generations now, Reuben Selby’s Contact platform is set to dominate the space through empowering creatives and enabling them to get paid for their talent – a massive task, but not an intangible one.

Contact’s founder and CEO, Reuben Selby, says “We believe that all individuals are creative and that self-expression can lead to more prosperous cultures. Our mission at Contact is to provide the support that creative people need, giving them the space to create art and get paid for their work”.
As of this month, the platform and its 23 employees, added photographers on their roster, with a range of other professions such as stylists, makeup artists, and videographers, set to follow over the next 12 months. Contact states that “the expansion is all part of Contact’s mission to empower a global community of creatives to get paid for their talent”.
Let’s see what the investment does for Contact and where the platform rises to off the back of this major milestone. You can now join their team as they are hiring across the business.
