It’s CULTED with your 60-second NEWS BLAST.
It’s round three of the court battle between Hedi Slimane and Kering!
When Slimane left his role as Creative Director at Saint Laurent back in 2016, it took only two months before he filed a lawsuit against the fashion group Kering, parent company of Saint Laurent.
According to Hypebeast, “Kering had violated Slimane’s contract when they lifted the binding clause on his departure, which allowed him to transfer to another brand but prevented financial compensation”.
This cost Kering a good $13mn!
But, that wasn’t it, within the same year, Slimane came for Kering again!
In 2018 the fashion group had to pay another $11.8mn, due to unpaid post-tax wages.
For everyone who thought the battle had come to an end – it has not.
Only earlier this month the court decided, Kering had to pay another $100,000.
This sounds like what one may call a very ugly divorce.
The whole battle might shine a light on the fashion industry’s problem with brands taking advantage of talent without ‘fair’ compensation…
So guys, do you think this is the final round of the ongoing Kering/Slimane battle?
