After almost 2 decades as Editor-in-Chief, Glenda Bailey announced in mid January that she would be stepping down from her role at Harper’s Bazaar.
But after almost 2 months one of the most powerful positions in American fashion is still vacant.
But why?
Business of Fashion’s Chantal Fernandez explained that “part of the problem is how she left […] it was sudden and unexpected, in contrast with the well-choreographed successions at other publications”
Harper’s Bazaar’s Chief Content Officer, Kate Lewis said in a statement that the “search for the next editor-in-chief of Bazaar has been thoughtful and careful”.
“This brand is too beloved and we are happily taking our time.”
But is this really the case?
It seems as though more and more people are taking themselves out of consideration, including former Executive Editor, Kristina O’Neill, and Vanity Fair’s Fashion Director Samira Nasr who was said to be a frontrunner for the role.
With the clock ticking, Harpers Bazaar’s Executive Editorial Director Joyann King and Vanity Fair’s Jessica Diehl are said to be leading the race.
Who are you rooting for?
