The Gucci Autumn/Winter 2020 show just took place in Milan.
While guests arrived at the #GucciHub, they found themselves backstage in a pool of models being prepared for the show.
The show dramatically started with a metronome ticking on top of a giant carousel, representing the fashion circuit.
The crew played an important role in this show, with Michele emphasising in the show notes “may the miracle of skilful hands and holding breath come out of the shadows.”
The first outfit was a pilgrim inspired look -a black dress with white frills, complete with Alessandro’s take on the classic Pilgrim hat. The look was finished with a black leather harness and a choker adding a modern flare. Perhaps Michele was referencing the pilgrim rituals with this; after all the show is called #GucciTheRitual.
The looks that followed created a fashion timeline – from Marie Antoinette style dresses to 70s tailoring.
There was a distinct lack of Gucci branding, less logo belts, tights and bags compared to past seasons. The focus seemed to be on the narrative Alessandro was imagining, giving us all a look inside his twisted dollhouse.
Which was your favourite look from the collection?
