In 2014 – the British designer John Galliano was appointed as the new Creative Director of Maison Margiela and he has now extended his contract at the French Fashion House, which means the rumours that he might change to another big fashion house are now laid to rest.
Within the last five years, Galliano focused on the French Fashion House’s approach of “deconstructing, reinventing and redefining men’s and womenswear silhouettes”.
Since Galliano started at Margiela, sales have increased.
According to Vogue UK, “Revenues have doubled owing to this focus on commercially profitable trainers and handbags”.
Renzo Rosso, the President of Maison Margiela’s parent company the OTB group said in a statement: “Five years ago I believed that John was the only person who could take this house in his hands and I am even more convinced of this today”.
John Galliano will continue his journey at Maison Margiela in his own way.
So guys, what do you think of John Galliano’s work at Margiela? Match made in heaven?!
