Friday NEWSRUSH Featuring MATCHESFASHION’s Initiative For Emerging Designers.

It’s CULTED with your Friday morning NEWSRUSH.

First up, MATCHESFASHION has launched a year-long programme to help emerging designers, called ‘The Innovators’. The company announced yesterday that it’s chosen 12 brands who will get guaranteed support from MATCHES for the next year, including marketing exposure and social media promotion. The chosen brands include Ahluwalia, Charles Jeffrey, and Harris Reed.

In other news, the ‘Fresh Prince’-inspired Air Jordan 5, ‘Alternative Bel-Air’, is dropping soon. The long-awaited sneaker drops next Saturday 15 August, priced at $190.

Next up, Beyoncé’s mum, Tina Knowles-Lawson, has criticised American Vogue for its lack of Black photographers. In an Instagram post praising British Vogue Editor Edward Enninful, Tina said:

“Kudos to this wonderful man … for boldly putting out beautiful activists on the cover. When will American Vogue step up and hire more Black photographers for cover shoots? We’re waiting…”

And to end today’s updates, Dior has unveiled its AW20 campaign, inspired by a photographic series by feminist artist Marcella Campagnano.

That’s all for this morning, stay tuned for our Louis Vuitton show review later today. It’s Sam with CULTED.
