It’s Culted with your 60-second NEWS BLAST.
Paul Marchant, CEO of Primark, recently topped Drapers’ list of the 100 most powerful people in fashion retail, with Boohoo CEO’s John Lyttle and Mahmud Kamani coming in second place.
The fashion publication states that the list includes 100 individuals “who have shaped the industry in 2019” – ignoring the negative impact of these major companies, though a sustainability section has been included – for the first time!
The Power List takes several factors into account, including the trading performance of fashion retail brands, as well as each person’s individual influence on the fashion industry…
In a statement, Drapers said: “These retailers are aggressively opening stores and buying rivals.”
“Some have navigated a stormy year better than others…”
We know that trading performance is a key factor but the results still came as a shock, given industry leaders like Vivienne Westwood paving the way towards a sustainable future, and current global campaigns highlight the damaging effects of fast fashion.
Drapers’ appears to ignore the catastrophic effect fast-fashion has on the planet.
Do you think these fast-fashion CEO’s be held responsible for their negative impact?
