British purveyor of high quality leather footwear Dr. Martens has partnered with two titans of the Japanese streetwear scene. A Bathing Ape and Mastermind Japan have heritage dating back into the 90’s, ties to icons like Nigo, Pharrell, and endless amounts of Japanese finesse irreplicable by anyone else. Mastermind in particular takes immense influence from punk rock and Britain, so this three-way, east-meets-west moment is perfect for the brand shrouded in an air of mystery.
On the iconic 1461 silhouette we see the Bape shark face as well as Mastermind’s skull and crossbones – two iconic pieces of branding that are recognised worldwide. More detailing comes by way of tri-branded dog tags, lace charms and sock liners.
The collection drops June 26, through Dr. Martens’ site and select retailers.
