Acne Studios is at it again, announcing the latest in the series of their climate-conscious collection. The capsule collections sources the off-cuts and leftover material from previous seasons, reinterpreting and repurposing them afresh for two new collections.

Titled ‘Seasons 7 & 8’, it left a lot to the imagination about what the two latest repurposed collections could look like.

Starting in order, the Season 7 capsule recrafts using woven silk, jersey, fleece and excess denim, dying, eco-bleaching or eco-stone washing to create faded, love-worn pieces.

In day-dreamy soft pinks, violets, faded greys, and baby blues…the pieces are playful and relaxed, with over-sized shapes cut to maximise comfort and designs that don’t take themselves too seriously, featuring childish scribbles of rockets, stickmen, and slogans, using eco-printing, of course.

Where season 7 was relaxed, season 8 is refined. Repurposing canvas and cotton, denim, soft leather, and jersey, a tonal palette of ecru and brown, and at times a pop of vintage blue…gives a sense of quality.

Pieces in season 8 exude an understated yet elevated vibe, combining loose-fitting with tailored silhouettes and also feature a bomber jacket in a tonal patchwork of denim and canvas, as well as a light-weight leather tank top using excess Nappa leather. And like season 7, 8 features some eco hand-drawing, screen-printed across archived denim separates and poplin shirts.

Olu Odukoya, artist and creative director of Modern Matter behind the seasons 7 & 8’s concept, writes of the capsules:

“What struck me about the Repurposed collection is that it is designed with a social

conscience, and with several good intentions in mind. The first is sustainability: you take a

material that already exists, and that might be thought of as waste material, and you transform it into something else. The second is about fluidity: all these clothes are designed so that every single person can wear them, regardless of gender or identity. For me, that feels really modern, powerful, and joyful – and that’s what youth is all about.”

Get your hands on the collection in Acne Studios stores and on the brand’s website on May 5th.
