CULTED SOUNDS: CATCHING UP WITH DDESMS

by Stella Hughes

It was about time we sat down with Ddesms for a CULTED SOUNDS feature – as one of our community members killing it in his field. Straddling the worlds of fashion and music, Daniel is a regular in the London and Paris scenes. Off the back of consistent heat, the most recent being track RIRI and a new tracksuit from his brand ENVY, we caught up with him to debrief.

Last time we caught up, you’d just dropped your track LUNDUN. What’s your favourite lyric from that track?
I think one of my favourite lyrics from Lundun has got to be just \stepping out Lundun town’. Obviously most of us that are born here, grow up here and go through all the London lifestyle understand what I’m saying.

What have you been up to since then?
I dropped my latest track called RIRI, which has been pretty crazy. Honestly right now, I would say it’s one of my best tracks. The production is crazy and the whole track is just a vibe.

Who are your favourite artists right now, and have they changed over the years?
Right now I listen to a lot of London artists, which has always been a thing for me actually. As of lately though, I’ve been listening to underground American artists too, such as Northsidebenji. Mainly people that mess with the UK still.

A lot of our audiences are young creatives – if you had to give a piece of advice for someone looking to get into the music industry, what would it be?
I say you should definitely  find ur own lane, style and vibes. Be as unique as everything in life and trust me, if you push it and put in the work you will get what you want.

What can we expect from your next drop?
Be ready – EP MODE and album on the way!

Can you take us through a typical day in the life when working on a creative project?
We get up, go studio the whole day, vibe and just make bangers. We normally make like 10 tracks in a session and just decide which we mess with the most to be honest.

You’re about in the London and Paris scene – what was your favourite moment from the most recent Paris Fashion Week?
Paris, I’m not gonna lie, was a movie. It always is but this year was crazy – I’m pretty sure I had about 3 hours sleep the whole time. Going to shows then after parties was too crazy, will be back soon for sure.

What’s next for DDESMS?
My clothing brand ENVY is dropping some fire soon, and of course be ready for new music.
