It’s CULTED with your 60-second NEWS BLAST.
Central Saint Martins’ BA Fashion students presented their final collections in a 35 minute video yesterday, trading in the annual fashion shows for a striking online presentation.
A total of 106 students showcased their work, creating 2 looks from their final collection accompanied by a short film, exploring the story behind the clothes.
We spoke to Sarah Gresty, BA Fashion’s course leader, who told CULTED that this new way of presenting “pushed the students into places we’ve never seen, taking them to a whole new level and turning them into multi-disciplinary creatives”
She went on to say that due to the films being made in isolation, “we were taken into their gardens, bedrooms, kitchens and there’s something very intimate, honest and raw about that”.
And if anyone was worried about the impact that a lack of physical showcases could have on the hiring prospects of graduates – CSM had 1300 live viewers on YouTube alone and Sarah said the amount of emails and enquiries they’ve had “this year has been on another level”.
With yesterday’s showcase proving a success Sarah says that they’re likely to pursue this style of presentation again!
You can watch the film on bafcsm.com.
