SKIMS has tapped Cardi B as the star of its new “Cotton Collection” campaign. The hip-hop icon joins a star-studded talent roster, which includes PinkPantheress, Heidi Klum, and Tyra Banks.
The “Cotton Collection” is the shapewear label’s most popular product offering, appreciated for its inclusive size and colour range. For the latest campaign, sought-after SKIMS items are updated with all-new branded waistbands, cuts and colours inspired by Cardi B’s music career.
Cardi B is a widely recognised female rapper, being the first woman to win the GRAMMY Award for Best Rap Album as a solo artist. She is also the female hip-hop artist with the most No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100.
The campaign sees the New York artist pose in front of the lens of Italian photographer Vanessa Beecroft for a series of intimate shots that showcase two pieces and dresses against a minimal white backdrop, with the rapper posing on an elevated block. Beecroft regularly collaborates with SKIMS and also works across art, sculpture and painting.
Speaking on the campaign, Cardi B shared her admiration for the SKIMS brand: “I’ve always loved the SKIMS Cotton Collection. It’s so sexy and makes me feel snatched yet comfortable while hanging out at home,” before adding, “The new styles and colours I wore on set are even better, and I can’t wait to wear them all the time.”
SKIMS was founded by Kim Kardashian in 2019 to create shapewear that matches a range of skin tones, combining body-sculpting technology with a focus on comfort, that looks just as good under your clothes as it does as the main event.
The brand is incredibly popular and has appeared on the Lyst Index in Q1, Q2 and Q3 of this year, achieving a $4 billion valuation. In its short history, the brand has become known for tapping a wide range of culturally relevant talent for its campaigns, helping push it further onto people’s radar.
