In a rare turn of events, industry watchdog Diet Prada is now being called out over a recent post regarding Yeezy’s collaboration with Gap. Calls for a “boycott” of the account came after they posted mock images of the Yeezy x Gap collab which showed fake shirts plastered with the ‘Maga’ acronym, as well as the phrase ‘Slavery was a choice’ written across them.
Followers were angry that DP chose to post joke images that “they know people are going to run with as facts no matter how they phrase it”. However this wasn’t the only issue with the post that people had.
Despite “2 posts dedicated to preemptive slandering of the Yeezy Gap collab”, Diet Prada failed to acknowledge the talent of Nigerian-British designer Mowalola, who’s been tapped as Design Director for the partnership.
Instead, to some it came across as though the account was “pitting two [Black] designers against each other”.
Diet Prada is run by Lindsey Schuyler and Tony Liu, neither of whom are Black, leading @Pam_boy to comment that the account is “a digital space for white people despite the POC posturing”.
