The British Fashion Council has just unveiled the list of NEW WAVE Creatives for 2021 – a list of the fifty most innovative and inspiring young creative talents from around the world. The dynamic list includes trailblazers from across multiple disciplines, including artists, photographers, hair and makeup artists, set designers, stylists and directors.
This year’s finalists hail from all around the world, with talent from the UK, Ghana, Austria, Germany, The Netherlands, Nigeria, China, the US and beyond. What’s more, they were voted for by last year’s creatives, meaning the 2020 line-up had direct influence over that of 2021, in a meaningful act of peer-to-peer advocacy.
The final fifty creatives are set to be celebrated at upcoming Fashion Awards, presented by TikTok, on November 29 in London. The event will celebrate the people and organisations who have led change in the fashion industry this year, as well as officially welcoming the list of creatives.
But what does this mean for them? By making the list, the group will benefit from a dedicated communications campaign including international PR, year-round social media support across the BFC’s channels, and a specialist resource facilitated by the BFC.
The talent is vast: the photography section makes up the biggest proportion of the NEW WAVE list, featuring the likes of David Uzochukwu, Christina Ebenezer, Fish Zhang, Giovanni Corabi, Justin French, Sirui Ma and Zhong Lin. Exciting and experimental artists such as Kristina Nagel, Lisa Mard and Yuen Hsieh are bridging the gap between physical and digital media. Other talent includes set designer Jade Adeyemi, stylist Chenyu, creative director Jordan Anderson, makeup artist Raisa Flowers, and hair stylist Sonny Molina.
With the stakes high and the potential even higher, 2021’s NEW WAVE creatives are set to make headlines over the coming year. Check out the full list here.
