Around the world: All the Pride events happening this summer

In case you didn’t already know, this month is Pride month. While a lot of events, parades and parties are happening this month, even more are happening all summer long. Whether you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community or just an ally, go out there and celebrate love without boundaries, and specifically with Pride. Here are some celebratory events for you to attend, wherever you are in the world.

DIESEL IS HOSTING THE ALLTOGETHER CLUBHOUSE IN NYC

After showing The AllTogether Clubhouse in Los Angeles, Paris and Venice, Diesel is heading to NYC this Pride month with the public exhibition that features a whole new curation. Hosted with the Tom of Finland Foundation, the two will be exhibiting artists’ works that represent the queer life of the city.

LONDON’S PXSSY PALACE IS HOSTING A QUEER PICNIC

Pxssy Palace is always in the mood to party, and this month the nighttime events are stronger than ever. For a change of setting, Pxssy Palace will also be hosting a Queer Family Picnic at Somerset House on August 18, where everyone is welcome – and it’s free entry.

AMSTERDAM IS HOSTING ITS ANNUAL CANAL PARADE

The Dutch city is famous for its Pride street parades but the most renowned one is the one that takes place on boats along its canals, this year taking place on August 5. While registration has closed for you to bring along your boat – if you had a spare one – the parade can be watched from just about any street that sits next to the long canal.

STRIDE FOR PRIDE IN LOS ANGELES

This year marks the third annual Montbello run in Los Angeles, a community event open to everyone. Taking place on June 24, the 5km run has participants to literal and metaphorical strides towards “love, inclusivity and equality” in the fight against injustice and discrimination that still affects the community to this day.

HELP OUT LGBTQ+ REFUGEES & ASYLUM SEEKERS IN MELBOURNE

Both a fundraiser and an awareness-spreading event, this Melbourne event will take place on July 18. Hosted by Pride Foundation Australia, which has been raising funds for all types of LGBTQ+ oriented causes, you can expect to hear from members of the Community Refugee Sponsorship and personal Humanitarian visa holders.

TUNE IN TO MADRID’S DAYS-LONG PRIDE PARADE

The Spanish city is host to the biggest Pride parade in Europe, with everyone from drag queens to trans activists showing up and doing their bit for the community. This year, the celebrations will start on June 28 with the festival opening, the main parade will be held on July 1, and the celebrations will end the day after, with the closing party.

CELEBRATE PRIDE WITH LAUGHTER IN TORONTO

Hosted by Toronto’s The Comedy Lab, which is hosting all sorts of Pride-themed comedy nights throughout this month, the Lost In Pride night is taking place on June 24 between 8PM and 10PM. The club will invite queer comedians to take the stage, with tickets now available for all shows.

GO SEE THE SAINTS AND SINNERS EXHIBIT AT GUTS GALLERY IN LONDON

Open until July 7, the Guts Gallery is hosting the LGBTQIA+ identifying group of artists Saints and Sinners in an artistic exhibition. Artists like Cathrine Opie, Hilary Harkness and Shadi Al-Atallah are all showcasing their pieces, as well as having a photograph of Lío Mehiel, the first trans actor to win the award of Best Acting at the Sundance Film Festival, taken by Holly Silius.

CHILL OUT IN OSLO’S PRIDE PARK

Not all Pride celebrations have to include BDSM-filled, heavy-techno sounds. Some can be as simple as just chilling in a park, which is what the Norwegian city is doing. Taking place between June 28 and July 1 on Kontraskjæret, Oslo Pride‘s Park event will be providing meeting areas, food and drinks, shop stands and stages for speakers.
