Sébastien Meunier just debuted his latest AW20 collection for Ann Demuelemeester earlier today here in Paris.

For SS20 the designer took an unexpected turn from the brand’s signature aesthetic and described it himself as grittier, sleeker and glossier. However, this season was the opposite. We were transcended through time with draped, flowing dresses in a show space with chiaroscuro lighting.

The models emerged wearing looks in the traditional Demuelemeester black, before the colour palette moved into seductive Tudor greens and reds.

The collection was called  “The Unicorn” and in the brand’s words was “dedicated to the proud, untameable legendary creature, a symbol of courtly love, which infuses the medieval literature.”

The show transported us into a romantic Tudor fantasy, through red velvet dresses with Elizabethan paned cap sleeves.

Heavenly white gowns were featured, along with short layered chiffon dresses.

Metal under-wiring was exposed throughout the collection,  which continued into the footwear creating a juxtaposition between medieval and contemporary.

What did you think of the collection?
