Adidas and Allbirds have teamed up to launch the world’s most sustainable sneaker.

The two brands will assess every part of the production process, from materials to transportation, with the end goal of creating a sports performance shoe with the lowest ever carbon footprint!

Allbirds co-founder Tim Brown explained “there is an urgent need to reduce our global carbon number, and this mission is bigger than just Allbirds or Adidas.”

A typical pair of shoes produces on average 30 pounds of carbon dioxide, and there are more than 15 billion shoes produced each year, which is why the brands are aiming to create a sneaker that “emits as close to zero carbon as possible”.

VP of brand strategy for Adidas, James Carnes, said “our brands don’t want to just participate in the sustainability conversation, we want to continue being catalysts and creators of substantial improvement”.

The sneaker is rumoured to be released sometime in spring or summer 2021.

So guys, do you think they’ll be able to pull it off and create a zero carbon sneaker?
