Born from Angelo Plessas’ interview with editor Thomas Persson for Acne Paper’s relaunch issue, the collaboration brings spirituality and technology together and into the world of Acne Studios. Featuring embroidered patches, the limited-edition collection is inspired by Plessas’ Noospheric cape project. The cape, aimed at promoting spirituality and cultural heterogeneity in a hyper-connected world, is adorned with talismanic symbols and viewed as a ritualistic healing tool.
“The symbols come from a project where I explored the idea of the talisman in contemporary life” Says Angelo Plessas, who was born and raised in Athens. “I was using symbols and semiotics that you see in ancient Greece, for example, but also in everyday communication like emojis and emoticons, and even cybernetics. I was interested in this mingling of ancient, contemporary and futuristic so I collected a few symbols and we put them on t-shirts, bomber jackets, and so on. They are talismans and symbols of hospitality, friendship, sisterhood and generosity,”.

The collection features unisex pieces adorned in the embroidered talisman patches; oversized t-shirts in pale blue and cream, an oversized hoodie in navy blue, a burgundy bomber jacket, as well as an embroidered cushion in home décor. For its launch, Plessas discusses his work in three short films, and hangs several handmade capes in select stores around the world. These capes act as wall hangings and feature talismanic symbols, quilted and hand-applied using fabrics that are “orgone-friendly”, a process that uses Electromagnetic radiation (EMF) which protects households from devices like laptops, smartphones, and routers.
The limited-edition collection will be available in stores worldwide and online at acnestudios.com on April 28th.
